Organizational Coaching/Organizational Consulting & Executive Coaching

As a founding and board member of the Graduate School Alliance for Executive Coaching, coaching at Penn adheres to the following definition:

Organizational and executive coaching is a development process that builds a leader's capabilities to achieve professional and organizational goals. A leader is an individual who has the potential of making a significant contribution to the mission and purpose of the organization. This coaching is conducted through one-on-one and group interactions, driven by evidence/data from multiple perspectives, and is based on mutual trust and respect. The coach, individuals being coached, and their organizations work in partnership to help achieve the agreed upon goals of the coaching.

Two coaching pathways are available to students in the MSOD and the MPhil degree program:

Organizational Coaching

Organizational Coaching (OC) studies is for those interested in learning and developing coaching competencies and tools that integrate with other Organizational Dynamics competencies such as project management, change management and global studies. In this approach, a student selects any six (6) OC courses from among those offered and can study part-time.» more

Organizational Consulting and Executive Coaching

Organizational Consulting and Executive Coaching (OCEC) studies is for those interested in a comprehensive and focused approach to coaching and consulting as a profession, whether working as an internal coach/consultant or as an external professional. In this approach, students form a learning cohort community, study together with a dedicated coaching faculty, and complete their degree on weekends in 18 - 24 months.» more
