Dynamics Community Services
A variety of special services are provided to members of the Organizational Dynamics community. A complete description of services as well as policies and procedures are available in the annual Student Guide but this website offers the most up-to-date descriptions.
Student Guide
Each academic year, an updated Student Guide is prepared. This online document provides a description of the policies, procedures, resources, and other important information for members of the Penn graduate community.
Educational Materials
Acknowledging that Organizational Dynamics students are professional and often executive-level students, all required text books, journal articles, papers, and other assigned materials for a course are provided to each student. Print and electronic materials are packaged/assembled and enclosed in book bags prior to each course. Technology support materials such as head phones for online courses are also provided. Materials required for courses held off-campus are also assembled and provided to students attending travel-related courses.
Meals
Dinner is provided between 5:00 and 6:30 PM Monday through Thursday and between 3:30 and 4:30 pm on Friday to all Organizational Dynamics students registered in a DYNM course being held that evening. Breakfast or lunch is provided to Organizational Dynamics students enrolled in Saturday morning or afternoon class. Meals are generally provided in the University/Faculty Club dining room.
Dinner and Lunch Lecture Series
Organizational Dynamics provides a lecture series during the fall and spring semesters as part of some dinners and lunches. We invite to speak to our community academic and practice leaders representing a broad range of topics. For dinner lectures, students should arrive by 5:15 pm as the lecture begins at approximately 5:30 pm and ends at approximately 6:15 pm in time to attend evening classes. Lunch lectures run from 12 noon until approximately 12:45 pm. Most dinner lectures are held in the University/Faculty Club dining room. Lunch lectures – usually on Saturdays - are often held in the Organizational Dynamics conference room next to our offices.
Lectures are open to all DYNM students attending class on the day the lecture is scheduled. Students wishing to attend on a day when a class is not being held must register by contacting the DYNM Office. Here is a link to the past and upcoming Lecture Series.
Writing Assistance
To help participants who may not have written an academic paper in many years or who have English Language writing skills that require improvement, a series of workshops are offered in the fall and spring semesters. These programs help a student deliver the academic writing needed to meet paper delivery expectations in Organizational Dynamics at Penn.
Research Paper (RP) Workshops with Dr. Steve Freeman
Academic Writing Workshops with Janet Greco, PhD
All active Penn graduate students also have access to additional Penn's writing services. A student may schedule individual appointments whenever needed, whether it is to make the transition from business writing to academic writing, to critique a paper, to get specific assistance in solving writing problems identified by the faculty, or just for moral support.
Penn Email Address
All Organizational Dynamics Degree candidates will be given a Penn email address and account (issued through the Degree Program). Participants will need access to a computer for communication, class selection/registration, and, in some courses, for class email discussion and submitting papers. Students may forward Penn email to another email address, if preferred. The Penn email account enables participants to communicate with one another, faculty, and the Program office. It also gives full access to all of Penn's on-line library and news services.
