Did the program structure influence your decision to join the Organizational Dynamics community?
The all-encompassing aspect of the program curriculum and my fascination with the workings of organizations of all kinds- particularly health-care-service oriented organizations. The program’s construction allowed me to explore my topics of interest and take classes that I felt would ultimately serve my goal of helping to create healthy workplace environments and consulting in the area of organizational alignment from a whole systems perspective.
How has the program influenced your professional career?
Well, the program has expanded my understanding of the scope of organizational consulting. As a practitioner of social change, it has helped me to grasp the many levels of organizations, how to go about affecting change in complex organizational structures and how to think about creating sustainable organizations for the future.
The international courses are much more than just an opportunity to see new places, aren’t they? Can you talk a little about your experiences in the International Courses Abroad (ICA’s)?
Sure. They were my most meaningful experiences in the program. I visited China, Beijing and Shanghai, and studied how China is opening its doors to the global economy and the impacts of this on the Chinese and the rest of the world. I met amazing people and made connections invaluable to my pursuits. I also visited France where we studied international approaches to program management and business.
What Certificates will you earn at graduation?
In the end, I will have certificates in both Leadership and Practitioner for Development and Change. I tried to vary the topics to have an understanding of material in each concentration, taking classes that had a connection to my interests and areas that I felt I needed to learn about.
Says Angelo, "On the more personal side, it (OD) has given me the confidence to realize my professional dreams and also to live in a way that is reflective of the type of organization I would like to represent."
