Richard Heaslip is Vice President of Project and Portfolio Management at Wyeth research, where he is responsible for development of Wyeth's core research and development capabilities in Project, Program and Portfolio Management. He is responsible for mentoring Wyeth professionals who lead and manage teams developing new products for the treatment of a host of diseases. As head of Wyeth Research's Project Planning and Decision Support Group, he is also responsible for all Wyeth activities supporting R&D portfolio and resource management, project planning, pharmaceutical industry benchmarking, metrics and performance menagement. In this capacity, he is responsible for establishing and continuously refining Wyeth's "best practices" in strategic portfolio and performance management.

Prior to assuming this role, he was Co-Chair of Wyeth's "Special Opportunities" Leadership Team, responsible for entrepreneurial development of high-value products in therapeutic areas that lie outside of Wyeth's traditional global focus, and he personally led the Development Team responsible for U.S. development and registration of Protonix® and Protonix IV®.

Prior to joining Project Management, he spent eleven years in preclinical research at Wyeth. His preclinical research in pharmacology and biochemistry has been published in over 80 manuscripts and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals.

He received his B.A. in Research Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Ohio State University. He returned to Penn to complete postdoctoral training in the School of Veterinary Medicine.
