DYNM 637: Coaching and Facilitating TeamsProgram InformationThis is a graduate course that satisfies the following requirements:
Session InformationThis course starts on 05/28/2009 during the Summer 2009 Semester.
Meeting NotesSpecial Schedule: Class participants will decide on which two evening classes will be cancelled so that an 8:30 AM - 4:45 PM team development session can be held on Saturday, July 18th. Course InformationThe information on this page is intended only to provide, as is available, a summary of the course objectives, requirements, and readings. Please refer to the full course syllabus for more details. DescriptionHighly productive teams plan well and execute against that plan. These teams have effective leadership which recognizes and fosters the development of the skills of the team's members. Tasks are accomplished in a cooperative and participative environment. Accomplishments are recognized and, as appropriate, celebrated. Failures and disappointments are explored so that the lessons learned can be used to succeed in the future. Sadly, not all teams and work groups fit the above description. Too often goals are not met, participation is uneven, finger-pointing, CYA, and lack of motivation permeate the team. In this course we will explore the roles and functions of the coach and facilitator of organizational teams. This highly participative course will use both theory and practice to determine how to help teams avoid pitfalls and increase their opportunity to become highly productive in the accomplishment of tasks and the professional and personal development of people.
