For admittance into the OCEC concentration, all candidates must be vetted through a rigorous two-stage process. In the first stage candidates must apply to the Organizational Dynamics at Penn's MS degree program through the University of Pennsylvania graduate school's Apply Yourself on-line system. Note Under Field of Specialization be sure to select the Organizational Coaching (OC) option. For more information on applying to Organizational Dynamics at Penn's degree programs and the Apply Yourself online system, click here.
Once the graduate school has received all of the required Apply Yourself application materials, you will be notified by the department to proceed with stage two of the OCEC admission process which involves the following two additional steps:
- Interview: All candidates for admission to the OCEC concentration must be interviewed by one of the core coaching faculty. The interview will concern:
- Time and other resources demanded for completion of the classroom and internship requirements.
- Participant competencies including knowledge, skills, abilities, and creativity needed to meet the intellectual and experiential demands of the concentration.
- Level of work experience and maturity.
- Degree of interest in the emerging profession of coaching and of consulting.
- Openness to self-exploration and personal reflection, especially in relation to one’s own behavior and potential impact on other cohort members, clients, and faculty.
- Capacity to be collaborative in a community built on cooperation.
- In addition to the two references required in the Apply Yourself online application, one additional reference from a person who knows the candidate's work as an employee and his/her ability to work effectively with others is required.
Note: Students accepted into other Penn graduate degree programs, including MSOD, can apply to this program. However, they must be interviewed, submit the essay, and, due to the integrated nature of the program and the reliance on learning in conjunction with the cohort, agree to take all courses if accepted.
