Browse Courses: Spring 2008Announcements/RemindersUpdated February 20, 2008Special Information for ParticipantsUndergraduate Courses Offered - Coaching Opportunity ResultsFor the first time in its 31 year history, Organizational Dynamics will be offering two undergraduate courses in upcoming months: DYNM 202, Organizational Dynamics for the Modern Workplace, taught by Jean-Marc Choukroun, and DYNM 201, Team Dynamics in Organizational Settings, taught by Bill Wilkinsky, which will be offered in the Spring 2008 term. These courses are proposed to be part of the new "B-Flat Minor" (Budgeting, Finance, Leadership, And Teamwork) currently being proposed by the College of Arts and Sciences. DYNM 201 has a special significance to Organizational Dynamics graduate students, as advanced Coaching students will facilitate and support the undergraduate teams. Interested coaching students should consult the course description for DYNM 645 section 016 for more information. Intra-University Graduate Registration a Two-Way StreetStudents in other graduate courses at Penn have been enrolling in Organizational Dynamics courses for several years now, and most O.D. students have shared their classrooms with degree candidates from Wharton MBA, Graduate Nursing, Graduate Education, Master of Liberal Arts, Fels Institute, or Graduate Social Policy and Practice. Organizational Dynamics degree candidates are, likewise, permitted to register in elective courses offered by other schools at Penn that might be of particular interest to O.D. students. If you are interested in registering for a course in another graduate school at Penn, please contact Dr. Larry Starr by email for approval. The Graduate School of Nursing has recommended the following courses to Organizational Dynamics students:
Click here for the spring 2008 course chart [ All ] [ Graduate ] [ Undergraduate ] DYNM 202 - 001: Organizational Dynamics for the Modern WorkplacePlease note that beginning Tuesday, February 19, DYNM 202-001 will be taught by Dr. Jean-Marc Choukroun. Partnering with Dr. Choukroun will be Dr. Marcia Wilkof . DYNM 201 - 001: Team Dynamics in Organizational SettingsThe course will meet for 14 weeks, 2.5 hour sessions.DYNM 645 - 004: Practicum in Coaching and Facilitating Team DevelopmentThis is a practicum for coaching students who have completed DYNM 637: Coaching and Facilitating Teams. Students are also urged to have completed DYNM 641: Art and Science of Organizational Coaching before requesting entry into this course. Students will participate as supervised team coaches for students in our first undergraduate course, DYNM 201: Team Dynamics in Organizational Settings, which runs concurrently with DYNM 645 – on Tuesday from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm. In addition to attending all 12 meetings of DYNM 201, students in DYNM 645 may be required to meet occasionally prior to the class for preparation, after the class for debriefing, and at other to-be-defined times to discuss the developmental progress and issues of their assigned teams and the members of those teams. For more information contact Dr. Wilikinsky. NOTE: Since there is a Penn requirement that a professor cannot be assigned to two courses at the same time, DYNM 645 is listed as running between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm and DYNM 201 is listed as running between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. The actual times Organizational Dynamics students will be involved in this practicum is when DYNM 201is held, except for extra meetings as noted above. DYNM 640: Virtual CollaborationThe course overview and assignments will be presented January 15th and students will have an opportunity to become familiar with the course tools. Regular classes will run from January 22 through April 22. PLEASE NOTE: There is no Program Fee for this course, as class will be entirely off campus. Instead the two course text books and a headphone for the virtual classes will have to be ordered online by each individual student with no reimbursement from the Program Office. The course software and online bulkpack materials will be free of charge.
