Open Registration for each semester commonly lasts for 8 weeks and opens approximately 3 months before classes begin. For example, Fall 2011 Open Registration begins July 11, 2011 and ends August 13, 2011. Late Registration began the next day and continues until approximately 2 weeks before classes begin, September 7, 2011.

During Open Registration, students who register will be given their first choice on a first‐come, first‐served basis, except in the following instances:

  • course is canceled by the University or the Professor for any reason;
  • student is on financial hold;
  • student does not meet prerequisites that have been established for the course;
  • course is filled.

If the selected course is full, or if any of the exceptions above apply, the student will be enrolled in the second- and/or third-choice courses. Students are notified whenever a preferred course is not available.

During Late Registration, students are not guaranteed their first choice. A student must select from only courses remaining open.

IMPORTANT: Policies about adding and dropping courses before and during the semester are explained in the student guide (page 27) . There are financial penalties incurred when a course is dropped after the start of the semester and after the course has met.

ICA Pre-Registration is available only for International Course Abroad (ICA) programs. For approximately 2 weeks, DYNM students may pre-register for ICA classes. This will inform the Program Administration that a student is planning to formally register and will hold a seat until and throughout the Open Registration period. Dynamics students can pre-register for an ica course by logging in and selecting Registration » Pre-Register for ICA (in the top right corner).
